7 Influential women in the marketing industry

Marketing is an industry where getting to know talented people and seeing their innovative work can be really inspiring. Sharing the achievements and advice of others is a way for everyone to progress in this business. This Women’s Day, we are celebrating the contributions and knowledge that women have brought to the marketing industry. Here are some of the many women marketers that we look up to for producing amazing work – and we believe you should too!

Definitely someone you should know of if you’re in the marketing business, Ann Handley is a digital marketing pioneer. She is the founder of MarketingProfs, a groundbreaking marketing and education company with over 600,000 subscribers. She is also a writer, having written best-sellers like Everybody Writes: Your Go-To Guide to Creating Ridiculously Good Content and Content Rules: How to Create Killer Blogs, Podcasts, Videos, Ebooks, Webinars (and More) That Engage Customers and Ignite Your Business. She also writes for several publications including Entrepreneur magazine, IBM’s Think Marketing, Mashable, Huffington Post, and the Wall Street Journal. She talks and writes about creating marketing content that audiences enjoy and how that is what leads to tangible results.

Ade Onilude is the CEO of Women in Marketing, a social enterprise she founded in 2004, when she felt that the marketing events were entirely too male oriented. This community interest company was created to connect, educate and empower women marketers. Prior to this, she was a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and was also the chair of CIMCOM, their marketing communications forum. Onilude is an honoree in the 2013 Power List of Black Women in Europe as well as the World of Difference 100 award by The International Alliance for Women (TIAW). Her efforts are driven by wanting to challenge gender stereotypes and encourage the global economic empowerment of women.

She is the Global Lead for Agency and Partner Education at LinkedIn. and the President of LinkedIn’s Black Inclusion Group (BIG). She is the co-founder of the Marketers of Tomorrow marketing agency and also the co-founder of LinkedIn’s TransformHER Conference. With TransformHer, she aims to empower women of color with the skills and resources they need to make it easier to overcome the difficult odds they face in the tech industry. Ty is also the author of Marketer’s of Tomorrow: A Step by Step Toolkit for Inbound Marketing. Along with all this, she just happens to be a two time Olympic Trials qualifier in track and field.
